環 — Our Story

Home / About

The name

TAMAKI (環) is an old Japanese word for a ring — a circle with no beginning and no end. Two lives meet in Japan and become one unbroken circle. That is the moment we photograph.

We also like what the circle says about how we work: your journey starts with a message, becomes a day you will never forget, and returns home with you as photographs and film — one continuous line, handled by one team.

Who we are

TAMAKI is operated by CJC Inc., a Tokyo wedding-film production company with more than 4,000 wedding films produced for couples across Japan. Pre-wedding photography is our newest chapter, coordinated by CJC with a selected creative team and the production standards developed through that work.

TAMAKI is led by Hirofumi Ota, representative of CJC Inc. He reads and answers every enquiry himself, and plans each shoot with the team, so the person you write to is the person who takes responsibility for your day.

We work with a carefully selected creative and production team across Japan. The team is matched to your date, location and visual direction, while TAMAKI remains your single point of contact from planning through delivery.

Our promises

  • Your whole trip, not only the shoot. Our greatest strength is helping your whole trip to Japan become one of the best memories of your lives. We recommend hotels and restaurants by area and by cuisine, plan sightseeing routes and timing around your shoot, and bring an interpreter who speaks English, Mandarin or Cantonese to your shoot day, included in the price. Whatever we can do, we will.
  • Film included. Memory moves; your keepsakes should too.
  • Published pricing. The number on the site is the number you pay.
  • Permits, properly. We shoot with permission — shrines, parks and gardens — so your day is calm and welcome everywhere.
  • Honesty over hype. If Mt. Fuji is unlikely to show that week, we will tell you — and plan for it.
